California Dreaming

on February 11, 2012

We bought snorkels for everyone this morning then headed up to puerto Morelos for some snorkelling.  Puerto Morelos is a much smaller village than playa del Carmen and the reef comes close to shore.  We were offered rides in several boats to go out to the reef, but given that it was $100 and the kids had never done it before (and didn’t know if Fliss was going to be able to) we took the option of going to the beach instead.

As it was they all managed it, and even fliss saw some fish.  It was a very hot morning, but it didn’t seem so bad on the beach and in the sea, so of course by 12 noon when we left the beach for lunch we were all looking a little pink.

We found a nice small mexican restaurant for lunch, I had some great shrimp and jon had Chicken with Mole sauce (local speciallity with chocolate).

Back to the hotel pool in the shade for the afternoon then out tof another mexican (yes all we are doing is swiming and eating!)  I had lovely burritos and Jon had Chicken Fajitas.  The girls have eaten reasonably well today, but i think they would prefer Pizza!

Looks like Jon may have Montizumas revenge and my arms are quite sore, so looks like we are paying the price for a really nice day.

Really enjoyed catching up on your holiday.

Love the family pic above – the crocodiles & parrots.

Reading about the food had made me really hungry.

    Catch up soon
